Today, it was Monday when I woke up.
I looked around me; and found my watch; 6:48.
I felt the swollen gland or whatever it is in my throat and had to think of weather or not Monday is the day to see the free doctors at the Rebuild Center.
It wasn't, so I slept some more.
I am pretty sure that I ingested something which has been causing me to have a lot of mucous (blowing my nose every hour; but not feeling sick at all) and coughing my brains out so that I see stars...

Sunday
Sunday, or yesterday as some might refer to it; was a pretty good day.
I met Tanya and Dorise at their spot at 11 a.m. and Tanya offered to buy me food in Rouses Market. I didn't take her up on it, but I did go inside to try to steer her away from fried chicken on such a hot day, to no avail.
I played on the Bourbon Street spot and found that I was good enough to make money; although the haunting spirit of the guy who requests songs that mean a whole lot to his whole generation (and which I know none of) surfaced out of the pavement, and gave me a pretty good tip, but not as good as if I had known at least one of those songs which defined him and helped make him the man that he is today and which the mere sound of reminds him of who he truly is.
He wanted to hear "Under The Bridge," by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, "A staple," he labelled it.
But, he wanted to hear Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction, and Nervana also.
I managed to sound out parts of songs by each artist, which I only had dabbled in, back in the 1990's.
Should I create another Busking Axiom: "Learn at least one Nervana song, trust me..."?
The Day Before
I had a good day, Saturday, but I partook of the banquet which is New Orleans, and was enjoying the finest 3 dollar bottles of beers with names like "Fat Tire," and there was the most incredible food sitting atop trash cans, untouched; food like mufflattas which is a sandwich that has like a pastrami or salami and a lot of olives; and olive oil, too.
Somehow that sandwich makes the soul of anyone with Mediteranean blood in them sing.
It did I
But I woke up with a lot less money than I would have had I just done my routine things.

  1. Well, here I am again. As mentioned I took my blog down since it doesn't allow me to make new posts. Maybe it doesn't like old T60 Thinkpads running WindowsXP, which is what this machine is. It will be the shop computer, and when I come across one I'll pick up an older Mac laptop again, just because they're lighter, easier to use, etc. But this works for now.

I'm using the Bay 101 casino as my internet place. Today's a basic day: Go have one of their immense $2.75 tacos then round up a free (non-alcoholic) drink, today it's iced tea, then find an empty table in the hallway and plug this beast in, and see what's happening in Internet land.

Right now my money go-to is making stupid little "cause" ribbons and hustling 'em. I've come up with the brilliant idea that I may have some really good luck in places like Mountain View and Palo Alto, places I used to have good luck panhandling. I make the same $20/hour with the ribbons, although I'm really making half that because of the time it takes to make 'em. At least it's not panhandling.

I've rented a violin and have the blessings of the violin shop owner to learn to re-hair bows. And he let me copy one of his books. So, the next step is to figure out the plans in the book and build myself a bow-rehairing jig. I'll make it out of maple or cherry or something, some hard wood.

Meanwhile I have to earn enough to stay alive, Ken can pay me some, on a given week it may be $200 or it may be $0. That's where the stupid little ribbons come in. On a given day, I can go out and hustle 'em, and at the end of the day I've paid for my food, transportation, and have $100 more in my pocket than when I started.

  2. Cause ribbons; yeah...people probably just like to get on the subject of their cause and talk to someone about it and buy a ribbon in the process, maybe...
If that is even what a cause ribbon is; "more nukes; less kooks" on a ribbon that you wear????

  3. Imagine the breast cancer awareness ribbon, the pink one. Now imagine a bunch of other colors.

It's a silly thing, but I do make $20 or more an hour when I'm hustling 'em.

And I've just realized, I've done 'em for about 3 years in Santa Cruz ... people all know me there and that's why I'd been having to ask 25 people to make one sale. I went where people weren't already used to me and sales boomed. This is good because the place I'm living is very unstable and I may have to "hit the road". I can make my ribbons in a tolerant Starbucks or McDonald's or anywhere I can steal electricity.
